THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE UBELL FAMILY

The very first step was meeting Ms Ubell at her Upper East Side home in New York City.   I often do phone interviews with my Patrons because they come from all over the country and abroad. 

Actually seeing her home, how she lives, asking questions about my subjects' life, ...and analyzing everything first hand was truly a treat. I was able to visualize and select  what I would like to include in her "Portrait Journey". 

One of Ms Ubell's sons is a Poet and Musician so I asked her to send me some of his poems, (I included one that we both decided on in the portrait) and also used a photo of him playing the guitar.. Her other son is a Dancer, so there are images of him dancing in the trees and a childhood one from his performance in The Nutcracker. I also asked for a photo of the view from her window at Christmas. I used it for the background of the painting.

I also took childhood photos of Ms Ubell, and surprised her by using them as the "little girl" with the images of the boys as children.

Each "Patron's" story or "Journey" is different, and my imagery, color, layout and creativity come from their personal stories.

Our lives are a Journey. We tell our personal original stories through our Families, Children, Friends, Careers, Pets, Homes and all the moments that are most important to us!

Portrait Journey will celebrate a wonderful and memorable story of your life in an original and permanent Work of Art.
